New to Android Malware Spread via SMS




United States - Malware again attacked Android-based devices. UpdtBot, as the name suggests, is found NQ Mobile Security Research Center and is known to spread via text message or SMS.

As quoted from Ubergizmo on Saturday (15.04.2012), malware is disguised in the form of SMS which asks the user clicks on the link to update their phone systems.

Unfortunately, when the link is clicked, the user automatically install UpdtBot. Furthermore, the malware communicates with a malicious server can control and give orders from afar.

Well, this rogue application then allows the device to send SMS, make phone calls and downloading and installing applications without user's knowledge. Obviously, this can result in perforated bags because the pulse will be sucked out.

NQ Mobile Security Research Center estimates there are 160 thousand infected devices UpdtBot. To prevent this, make sure only to download applications from trusted sources. Previously, also check the reviews and user comments that have been put to ensure the safe application.
