Guide to Choosing a Memory Card for Digital Camera


In general, using a digital camera or recording media is often called a memory card, Secure Digital (SD) Card, SD High Capacity, SD Extended Capacity, Micro SD, Memory Stick ProDuo, and Compact Flash (CF).

As a guide, there are three criteria to consider in choosing a recording media, namely: capacity, performance (speed) and the brand.

- Capacity: As an illustration, a 2GB memory card can store approximately 1,000 jpg files from a 5 megapixel camera.

- Performance: (speed): For normal shooting, the memory card with a standard speed (15Mbps) is adequate. Yet to Burst shooting or "popcorn" is more advisable to use a faster or Ultra (already available 100Mbps).

- Brand: Currently the market is there are many brands that offer a large capacity memory cards with cheap prices, but in order to consider the safety factor, it is advisable only select products from the brands tested.
