Google Earth pyramids findings Trigger Controversy

Angela Micol, archaeological research, claimed to have found two pyramids in the desert of Egypt, earlier this week. Micol, who studied the pictures from the air to search for the man-made features, find the two pyramids are using Google Earth.

The first site is located just 2.4 kilometers from the ruins of an old town called Dimai. Formation consists of one large square and three other smaller features. These small features parallel to the northern star, just like the Pyramids of Giza. However, even its greatest feature is not in accordance with this straight line.

The discovery of the second pyramid is about 19 kilometers from Abu Sidhum, city on the edge of the Nile. Striking features of the plateau with the triangular plateau that has eroded. Center of this triangle has a circular feature, most likely a well or mound.

Micol claimed if the findings are supported by Nabil Selim as an Egyptologist. Selim said if the two pyramids were not previously known to exist. These findings also have been sent to several experts for analysis. "The image speaks by itself, it is clear what is contained all of these buildings. Although the research requires the field to verify if they in fact are the pyramids," says Micol.

However, the discovery has sparked controversy from other archaeologists. Sarah Parcak, an archaeologist from the University of Alabama, United States, expressed doubts about the findings Micol. "Report of Google Earth is coming from someone who is not Egyptologist, archaeologist, or a remote sensing expert," said Parcak. In addition, the added Parcak, the location of the discovery of any doubt, which is about eight kilometers west of the Nile Valley.

More subtle criticism delivered Robert Litman, an archaeologist from the University of Hawaii and is also director of excavations at Tell Timai Egypt. "Maybe it was a pyramid, but perhaps also other structures," he said. Geological evidence is needed to validate the process of building the pyramids and is different from other structures.
