Uncover ancient Egyptian mummy with Medical Scanner


3,000-year-old patient and medical history is literally still shrouded in mystery. This is an Egyptian mummy underwent a CT scan to reveal the secret of civilization.

One expert, Dr. Abeer Helmi said, the latest X-ray technique can clearly give a three dimensional image of the historical treasures in the coffins, mummies, without risk of damage.

Dr Helmi, from the University of Manchester, examines seven mummies from the British Museum. One was a priest who was buried with 11 gold charms, as a sign of high social status. Other mummy is a girl of 12 years, and the rest are men.

They were taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary to be put under the scanner (scanner) which is usually used for patients.

And the resulting images provide a unique insight regarding the health and behavior at about 900 BC, a period when the Egyptians were using a new preservation technique.

"They have been for thousands of years memumifikasi body and perfect all the time," said Dr. Helmi.

Two of the seven are found to have anemia and almost all have a serious problem wisdom teeth, is expected because they eat bread filled with sand that erodes tooth enamel.
