LTE, Wireless Networks with Fastest Growth

Network technology Long Term Evolution, or LTE, is claimed as the fastest growing wireless network. Since LTE is a lot of support from the provider of telecommunications equipment and solutions, mobile operators, and mobile device makers.

Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) oust LTE as the wireless network with the fastest adoption.

The same thing also disclosed research agency Strategy Analytics, who predicts there are 90 million people who subscribe to LTE by the end of this year, and 1 billion people in 2017.

LTE is proposed as an international standard by NTT DoCoMo of Japan in 2004. After going through research and development by various parties, LTE was first commercialized for the public by the mobile operator TeliaSonera in Stockholm and Oslo on December 14, 2009.

After that, some developed countries have decided to adopt LTE.

Strategic Marketing Manager Ericsson, Warren Chaisatien said the mobile operator Telstra of Australia declared itself will conduct LTE in March 2010. Then in September 2010, Telstra began to commercialize LTE in Australia.

"Implementation of LTE in Australia is not only beneficial to the telecommunications industry, but also the entire industry needs a super-fast internet access," said Warren who is based in Australia.

According to data released by GSA September 2012, there are currently 96 mobile operators in 46 countries are already offering commercial LTE network. In Asia Pacific, there are seven countries that have conducted LTE, namely Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Philippines, and India.

Then, 347 mobile operators in 104 countries have committed and start investing in LTE infrastructure. This investment can be trials or research and development of LTE technology.

In Indonesia, the three mobile operators (Telkomsel, Indosat and XL Axiata) has been testing LTE.

Needs conduct LTE network is also caused by increased penetration of smartphones and tablet usage, and more frequently used to download applications and content. Thus, mobile operators feel the need to increase the capacity and speed of data access.

In Singapore, for example, the use of smartphone penetration reaches 150%. Meanwhile, according to Ericsson ConsumerLab the recently released, Singapore occupies the first position in terms of smartphone ownership (74% penetration) and second place in tablet ownership (31% penetration) globally.

Chaisatien said the growing adoption of LTE over 2 to 3 years faster than 3G.

Other support came from the LTE smartphone and tablet manufacturers, who began making products with LTE support. Until now, there were dozens of supporting LTE smartphones, including Apple's iPhone 5.

However, almost all devices that support LTE is priced expensive, and not fully supporting LTE networks across frequencies.
